Privacy Policy

Taking The Hat Quiz is strictly anonymous. We never ask you to register, enter your name, phone number, or link a social media profile.

• Answers and scores: the five interests you pick and your answers to the questions are processed solely to calculate your balance of qualities across the four houses.
• Aggregate statistics: your final house is added to an anonymous counter that shows the percentage breakdown of visitors on the site (for example, what share of guests were sorted into Ravenclaw or Slytherin). This statistic contains no personal data.
• Named result card: if you enter a name on the result page to save a shareable card, the image is rendered locally right in your browser (HTML5 Canvas). The name you enter is never sent to a server and is never stored anywhere.

To understand our audience and keep the site running smoothly, we use GoatCounter, an open and privacy-friendly analytics service.

• It does not store cookies on your device.
• It does not track you across other sites or build an advertising profile.
• Only aggregated technical metrics are collected: total pageviews, visitor country, browser type and operating system.

The only personal data we might receive is an email address, if you voluntarily provide it through the subscription form in the site footer ("Send an owl").

• Storage: your email is stored in a secured database and used by the author solely to send occasional updates about The Hat Quiz and other independent projects.
• Protection: we're firmly against spam. Your contact details are never sold or shared with third parties or ad networks.
• Easy unsubscribe: every email includes a direct unsubscribe link. You can also write to n.zakharovv@gmail.com and your address will be removed from the list.
